Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer personally intervenes over Jadon Sancho deal
Jun 15, 2021

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told the club’s top brass to drop interest in all Jadon Sancho alternatives and focus on the Borussia Dortmund star, reports say. The England international is the Norweigan’s priority target for this summer. And he’ll be hoping it’s fourth time lucky when it comes to the club bringing in the 21-year-old.

United’s interest in Sancho predates Solskjaer’s time in charge.

Jose Mourinho first tried to bring the forward to the club back in the summer transfer window of 2017, only to end up missing out.

And United have attempted to land Sancho twice in the time since, in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Now, four years on from their first attempt, the Red Devils are hoping to finally succeed on the transfer front by securing his signature.

And Tribal Football claim Solskjaer has told United’s board to drop all interest in alternatives and focus, specifically, on the 21-year-old.

Sancho is said to prefer a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona.

But Solskjaer feels the England international will love life at Old Trafford, especially once he plays in front of a packed out Stretford End.

United are hoping to deploy the Dortmund star on the right wing of their attack, an area they’ve struggled in since Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure in 2009.

And, if that happens, they’ll boast one of the most formidable attacks on the planet.

Sancho will likely play with Marcus Rashford on the opposite flank and Bruno Fernandes down the middle, with the likes of Amad and Mason Greenwood then used from the bench.

And, up top, would be Edinson Cavani - who extended his stay with the club earlier in the campaign having previously been on the radar of Boca Juniors.

United legend Gary Neville thinks Sancho won’t necessarily be needed, however, if Solskjaer sees Greenwood as a right winger for the long term.
